Simon follows Baltimore's homicide detectives around for a year; the result is a striking commentary on Baltimore's social and political problems.

Me, reading a true crime book? It's all Ed's fault, for having persauded me to watch "The Wire" back in the summer; the research behind this book was the inspiration for much of the series, which (it turns out) is actually much less strange than the reality in many cases. Definitely worth reading if you liked "The Wire" (or, presumably, any of the other series that came directly or indirectly from Simon's work).
