Wow, this is a depressing book. Well-written, interesting story, but definitely not a happy one; rage against the modern world, and a worryingly-believable projection of where it might take us in the near future. If you've read any of the Takeshi Kovacs books then you'll have a reasonable idea of what to expect from Richard Morgan's style already, but being a lot closer to home makes this much darker.

One minor black mark against the plotting: there's a point early on at which an obvious ending for the book is set up, and I was looking forward to see how Morgan would subvert the expectation, but no, he went with the obvious ending.

Anyway, provided you don't expect nice things to happen to any of the characters, I'd recommend this one.
