Not as good as the Mars trilogy -- mostly owing to the pacing being off. Yes, I get that the author likes Antarctica, but I'd rather have heard more about the events at the end of the book, and less about uneventful wandering around glaciers...
On the other hand, this seems to do an excellent job of capturing the feel of Antarctica as a place to live, and the research community there.
