I think I got this at the same time as "The High Frontier"; it's essentially a mid-90s attempt at the same genre, outlining the (reasonable, intelligent, and totally doomed) Mars Direct plan for a manned Mars mission. I wasn't entirely convinced by Zubrin's proposed benefits of exploring Mars (particularly "idea trading"), and was put off by the America-centric view at the end; we aren't all boring idiots in the rest of the world (we hope).
