I didn't like this at all: the plot's ridiculous, but not enough so to be funny, and the jokes, such as they are, aren't. It's possible I'm missing the point, but it's also possible that Rankin's writing ability came a long way in the 14 years between this and "Voodoo Handbag" (which I quite liked). Avoid.
