For books and CDs from Amazon, it's usually worth looking at the Marketplace sellers; they often have second-hand or new items significantly cheaper than Amazon themselves. Delivery usually takes a couple of weeks, and my experience has been that private sellers ship a lot more quickly than companies.

While some record companies still maintain an ethical attitude to their customers, many albums released after 2000 are copy-protected and don't work on any hardware I've got (and aren't really CDs, since they violate the Red Book specification).
