Since my MythTV machine automatically grabs TV listings, it's easy for me to find a programme that I'm interested in if I know the title or channel. It's less easy to discover programmes that I haven't already heard about, particularly since I don't watch adverts.

A script that extracted a list of programmes nightly from the MythTV database and mailed me a report of new programmes would be useful. You'd want it to keep a history for N weeks; if a programme hasn't been seen in the last N weeks, then it should be considered new, so that I get told about new seasons of existing programmes starting.

I'd probably want to be able to control the sort order, since programmes on BBC FOUR are more likely to be interesting than those on ftn.
