This isn't really much of an idea, since I assume the lm_sensors people are working on it, but it would be useful to also have a cross-platform library for reading sensors (since presumably the raw-figures-to-temperatures conversion problem also exists on other platforms supporting lm78-style hardware). This could even be merged into libstatgrab at some point in the future.
lm_sensors now supports the Linux 2.6 interface.
