World War II fiction: a young meteorologist is given the task of persuading an eminent — but pacifist — academic to help forecast the weather for the D-Day invasion. Things do not go entirely according to plan.

The writing is decent, but the blend of historical (Pyke) and fictional (Ryman) characters didn't quite sit right with me, in much the same way that Robert Harris' Enigma didn't; the real tales of the Second World War are more interesting than anything you could make up.
